Meeting recording deduplication

How Tinrec helps avoid recording the same meeting twice

Overview

The same meeting can produce duplicate transcripts if automatic and manual recording both trigger. Tinrec’s deduplication tries to detect this and avoid recording the same meeting twice.

Note: Automatic recording here means the Mac desktop app detects Zoom / Meet / Teams / Webex (and similar) running and starts recording. This is different from calendar-scheduled auto recording; details for the latter follow the official site.

Steps

  1. In Meeting recording settings, confirm Deduplication is on (if the switch is available).
  2. When Tinrec detects a recording that heavily overlaps an existing one, it prompts you or skips the duplicate recording.
  3. If duplicates still appear, delete the extras in the workspace and keep the more complete copy.

Tips / FAQ

Q: Why do I still get duplicates?

A: Automatic and manual recording at the same time, or different devices recording the same meeting, can create multiple copies. Keep one and delete the rest.

Q: Does deduplication always catch duplicates?

A: Detection is based on meeting characteristics and is not guaranteed 100%. If you find duplicates, clean them up manually.
