Set up Tinrec live transcription

Set up Tinrec live transcription

Overview

Tinrec’s live transcription can transcribe while you record meetings, classes, or interviews, showing the transcript in real time. This article explains how to set it up and start using it—especially with the Mac desktop app to record Zoom / Meet / Teams / Webex and other online meetings.

Steps

  1. Prepare your device: Use the Tinrec desktop app (Mac / Windows) to record meeting system audio; the mobile app or web app can also record and transcribe live.
  2. Grant permissions: First recording requires microphone access; the desktop app also needs system audio capture permission.
  3. Start recording: Go to the Recording page and click Start recording. The live transcript appears as you speak.
  4. Mark key points: During recording, click Add marker to mark decisions and highlights so you can jump back during playback later.
  5. Improve accuracy: In Hotword management, add frequently used terms (up to 10 on Free, up to 100 on paid) so AI prioritizes proper nouns.
  6. End and generate: After you stop recording, meeting notes, speaker summaries, and to-do lists are generated automatically.
