Transcript missing audio when using Chrome

How to handle missing audio in transcripts when using Tinrec web in Chrome, and related notes.

Overview

When recording with Tinrec web in Chrome, if the browser does not correctly authorize the microphone, you may see a transcript without audio, or abnormal transcription. Below are possible causes and how to fix them.

Steps (troubleshoot and fix)

  1. Check site permissions: In Chrome, click the site icon to the left of the address bar and confirm the microphone is set to Allow.
  2. Re-authorize: Sign out and sign back in, then allow Tinrec to use the microphone again before recording.
  3. Switch browsers: If the issue continues, try another modern browser, or record with the Tinrec app.
  4. Disable conflicting extensions: Turn off extensions that take over the microphone or intercept scripts, then try again.
