Apps and browser extensions that may affect Tinrec
Which apps, browser extensions, or plugins may affect Tinrec recording and transcription.
Overview
Some apps, browser extensions, or plugins may occupy the microphone, intercept scripts, or modify page behavior, which can affect Tinrec recording and transcription. Keep the following in mind when using Tinrec.
Types that may interfere
- Apps that occupy the microphone: Voice calls, other recording or meeting software using the microphone at the same time may prevent Tinrec from getting audio.
- Microphone-takeover extensions: Some voice input, translation, or meeting-note extensions take over microphone permission.
- Script-blocking extensions: Ad blockers, privacy tools, or script managers may affect normal page loading and transcription.
Steps (recommended)
- Before recording, close other apps that are using the microphone.
- Test in a browser private/incognito window (extensions not loaded) to see if an extension is the cause.
- If a specific extension is confirmed as the cause, disable it while recording.
- If needed, record with the Tinrec app to avoid browser extension interference.
Tips / FAQ
- Recording with the app is usually most stable and avoids most interference from browser extensions.
